JMB- Suicide Bomb Attack

Four-party alliance won election in October 2001 led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The alliance included the Jamaat-e-Islami and the Islamic Oikya Jote , and both are known for their support of Islamic party while Jamaat-e-Islami is said to have collaborated with the military regime in Pakistan during the 1971 war that led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Islamic militant was rising under BNP government shelter and it’s started to spread in Bangladesh soon after Jamaat-e-Islami came to power, riding on the BNP.

The Jamatul mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) was formed in 1998 in Jamalpur district, Bangladesh. Most of the top JMB founder leader are former Jamat-e-Islamic . In 2005 JMB committed a series of bomb attacks all over the country , there were some leaflets found in bombsites linking their ideological views, where they mentioned, “We’re the soldiers of Allah. We’ve taken up arms for the implementation of Allah’s law, the way the Prophet, Sahabis, and heroic Mujahideen have done for centuries. It is time to implement Islamic law in Bangladesh. There is no future with man-made law”.

JMB launched suicide bomb attacks in Gazipur Court, on November 29 and again in Gazipur on December 1 2005, leaving 13 persons, including two members of the suicide squad of JMB, lawyers, Police and over 100 injured. Some also died in Dhaka medical college hospital. Suddenly Dhaka medical college hospital got filled up with lot of injured people.
